Menswear designers get their own London Fashion Week

Finally the boys get the fashion week they deserve - LONDON COLLECTIONS: MEN launches in June 2012

Move over ladies, the boys are back in town with their very own London Fashion Weekend. LONDON COLLECTIONS: MEN will make its fashionable debut between Friday 15 June and Sunday 17 June 2012.

The weekend is run by a committee headed by GQ Editor Dylan Jones and includes the likes of Tom Ford, Christopher Bailey, David Furnish, Mr Porter's Jeremy Langmead and Tim Banks from Style.com. The weekend will showcase the best in men's fashion and will include menswear catwalk shows, presentations and a 'cultural programme'.

LONDON COLLECTIONS: MEN is long overdue. Previously, London Men's day fell on the last day of London Fashion Week and was completely over shadowed by Milan Fashion Week which starts on the same day. Furthermore, in Paris and Milan menswear designers have the opportunity to showcase their designs during dedicated men's fashion weeks in January and June; London was falling behind in the male fashion stakes.

LONDON COLLECTIONS: MEN will fall immediately before the European June collections, and as such should be well attended.

Gordon Richardson, Design Director at Topman, said, “No longer shoe horned into one condensed, hectic day, the newly established London menswear collections, over three glorious days now has the space to breathe, flourish and generate the buzz that will put its talented rising men's fashion stars firmly on the international fashion map.”
